Before I can reveal the ONE THING that makes fluency not just possible… but automatic … I want you to know that you are not alone in your struggle to communicate… And that the frustrations you experience with your English speaking are NOT your fault

My name is Drew Badger, and after failing to learn three different languages, I made a discovery that helped me finally speak a second language fluently and confidently…

A discovery that I now share with millionsof English learners through my videos on one of the most popular English language learning channels on YouTube… Learners like YOU, who can read, write and understand this video, but struggle to SPEAK fluently! Do you ever become “stuck” when you try to speak, like you know the words, but they just won’t come out when you need them? Most English learners with poor speaking ability fear making embarrassing vocabulary, grammar or pronunciation mistakes in English conversations. They feel awkward and slow when speaking, and worry that they are boring to listeners. And because they often can’t automatically use the right words or grammar, they hesitate to think and translate in their heads before they speak.

Sadly, these frustrations with the languagelead to much more serious problems in lifewhen those who can’t reaches fluency miss valuable career opportunities… Struggle to communicate with clients and customers… Or can’t build relationships with members of their family or community who can only speak English.

But worst of all… learners with these frustrations come to believe that fluency is impossible: many struggling learners believe that they can’t become fluent because they’re not “immersed” in a community of native English speakers. Or because they don’t have some natural language learning “talent” or “gift.” Or that they’re too old to learn… or that they don’t know enough words to communicate fluently. And they worry that even if fluency is possible, that they’ll need many years of study and practice before they can have English conversations with confidence. If you struggle with any of these frustrating speaking “roadblocks”, take a deep breath and relax…

Because right now, I’d like to tell you the ONE THING that will DESTROY all of these painful problems AND help you finally become a confident, successful English speaker: the WAY you learn how to read, write and understand a language is DIFFERENT than how you learn to SPEAK it. Consider for a moment how you write in English… It’s a “slow” process where you can take time to think. You can carefully plan what you want to say in your head before putting any words on paper…

If you don’t know a word you want to write, you can find it in a dictionary. You can also review and edit what you write, or delete it and write something completely different. Do you ever wish you could go back and “edit” or “delete” things you say in conversations? I know I did when I had problems expressing myself. That would have save me a LOT of embarrassing situations.

Now, what happens when you readEnglish? Again, you have time to become comfortable with the material. You can re-read a passage as many times as you need to until the words flow smoothly and correctly in your mind, or while reading out loud. And if there’s a word or phrase you don’t know, you might continue reading, and soon the remaining paragraph will offer cues that help you understand it.

Finally, what happens when you listen to English? Here again, you have time to process what you hear. If you don’t understand every word and expression exactly, you can usually guess the speaker’s basic meaning. Even if you don’t understand anything at all, you can just smile and pretend like you do! Ever done that in a conversation? I certainly have… MANY times… and it felt awful when someone exposed that I actually didn’t understand something when I pretended like I did. What you won’t learn in traditional language schools and courses is that reading, writing and listening are completely different skills than speaking.Speaking is a “fast” skill, and that means you must be able to do it automatically… without hesitation. To communicate fluently, you must be able to respond spontaneously, naturally and confidently… without needing to translate any words, or think about grammar rules. The biggest problem with typical English classes is that they help you develop the “slow” skills of reading, writing and listening, but not the “fast” skill of speaking. This is why you can read, write and understand English, but can’t speak! Fortunately, this means the frustrations you experience when speaking English are NOT your fault! There’s nothing wrong with YOU that prevents you from becoming a successful English speaker… You DO know lots words, phrases and grammar points… And you CAN understand what I’m saying right now in this video… (1)

So, you really ARE so close to becoming a successful, confident English speaker! The only thing you’re missing is the training you need to produce correct, fluent speech automatically.

Remember… you cannot develop the ability to speak English the way you developed your English reading, writing and listening kills. So if you want to become fluent and sound natural while SPEAKKING… You must STOP using traditional methods, and begin a system that trains your mind to communicate fluently and automatically… Here’s how you do it:

The first step to fluency is to learn the most common CONVERSATIONAL phrases and expressions, rather than studying the formal vocabulary found in textbooks. There are many situations you need to be prepared for, but here’s a BIG secret to becoming conversationally fluent: Most people less than5% of the most common slang, idioms, phrase verbs and expressions in their everyday conversations.

So, why spend time learning extra phrases that you probably won’t remember or use when you speak?

Think about it…how often do you repeat the same words and phrases in your conversation? I have friends who say “That’s awesome!” for almost everything positive, or “That sucks!” whenever something bad happens. They could use something more interesting or uncommon, but people mostly just say what comes naturally so they can express themselves without thinking about it. This is an extremely powerful ideal for English learners…According to the current Oxford English Dictionary, the English language contains over 170,000 words in common use. And when you add things like expressions, idioms, slang and phrasal verbs, you have an infinite number of possible combinations… But most of these are rarely used. So, the trick to being prepared for most conversations is to learn the most commonly used CONVERSATIONAL English words and phrases…And I’ll share exactly how you can do this quickly and easily later in this video…

The second step to fluency is to learn and practice using this common vocabulary deeply, until you can say everything smoothly, confidently and without hesitation. This is how you develop the ability to use your vocabulary fluently, and you can learn to do it without having to memorize and lists of words or phrases!

The third step to fluency is to master grammar the same way native speakers do, all in English, with visual examples and simple stories. When you learn grammar this way, you train your mind to use even difficult grammar points and tenses correctly and automatically!

The fourth step to fluency is to study the parts of culture that appear most commonly in conversations. This is how you learn to understand the meanings behind the words people use, so you can make jokes and use clever references without thinking, just like native speakers.

The final step to fluency is to practice speaking with native speaking with native speakers so you develop your pronunciation, speaking confidence and the ability to express yourself spontaneously in the real world. This final step might be the most challenging part of developing fluency for you. Many English learners who really want to practice their spoken English have trouble finding friendly native English speaking practice partners who care about helping them improve. But, with some very simple strategies I can show you, it’s incredibly easy to make as many native English speaking friends as you like who really are excited to communicate with you… No matter where you live in the world! The truth is that it really is simple and easy to become a fluent English speaker when you change the way you learn to speak… And once you do, you’ll be amazed by how FAST you improve, and how SMOOTH and NATURAL your spoken English becomes. Eunice, one of my newest students from Korea, recently told me: “Though it’s only been just about a week since I started learning with you, I can ready see the improvements in my English, particularly in my fluency level.”
